Scope

To create a new financial distribution model for the WEURO,

that both rewarded sporting success and ensured the continued development of women’s football across Europe.

A new financial model

was designed based on previous models, the needs of women’s football and the requirements of all major stakeholders.

Prize money

was split between an equal distribution 60%,and tournament performance 40%.

A Club Benefits Programme

was also designed and implemented for the first time.

The programme compensated clubs for releasing their players to compete in the Women's EURO, recognising their contribution to the long-term success and popularity of the sport.

IMPACT

A record 16m Euros was distributed to national associations

as prize money, with
the biggest amount ever
going to each team.

Over €4.3 million was paid to 221 clubs from 17 different associations

whose players appeared in the tournament.

Clubs were encouraged to reinvest the redistributed funds

were encouraged to reinvest for the benefit of the sport.
